Overview
We are seeking a creative, strategic, and data-driven Social Media Manager to join our team on a contract basis. This role is perfect for a self-starter who excels at building and nurturing online communities around complex scientific and ethical topics. You will be responsible for developing and executing a dynamic social media strategy that boosts our brand awareness, drives meaningful engagement, and supports our overall communication objectives.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Creation: Develop and manage a comprehensive content calendar. Create compelling graphics, carousels, and written posts that translate complex scientific concepts into accessible content for platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
Short-form Video Production: Conceptualize, produce, and edit highly shareable, short-form videos for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels to create viral content that expands our reach.
Community Engagement: Act as the voice of our brand online by actively monitoring channels, responding to comments and messages, and fostering a positive and informative community environment.
Analytics & Reporting: Track and analyze social media metrics, and deliver regular performance reports with actionable insights and recommendations for optimization.
Trend Monitoring: Stay on top of the latest social media trends, platform updates, and conversations in the biotech and genetics space to keep our strategy fresh and compelling.
Qualifications
3+ years of demonstrated experience in social media management or digital marketing.
A strong portfolio showcasing successful social media campaigns and content creation.
Deep understanding and hands-on experience with major social platforms, especially Instagram (Reels, Stories), TikTok, and LinkedIn.
Experience in translating complex scientific or technical topics into compelling content for a general audience.
Excellent written communication and copywriting skills, with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to maintain a compassionate and scientific brand tone.
Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.).
Experience with content creation tools like Canva or the Adobe Creative Suite.
A strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into strategy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
